Our starting point
Products, customer accounts, order history, content, extensions and search engine URLs: we assess what needs to be retained and how it will be represented in the new shop.
Migration paths
A platform change with a new architecture. Themes, extensions, data structures and interfaces are assessed individually.
Export options, data quality and business-specific exceptions determine the migration path. Existing integrations are considered too.
A verifiable process
Inventory the existing shop, extensions, data and URLs. Define scope and acceptance criteria.
Map fields, clean data and perform a test import.
Implement the theme, functionality, payments and shipping. Connect existing systems as needed; a new PIM is not required for migration.
Accept data and ordering processes. Prepare delta migration and the switchover window.
Check redirects, availability and processes. Monitor search visibility and errors afterwards.
Preserve visibility
Inventory existing URLs, preserve relevant content and map required redirects precisely.
Metadata, canonicals, language versions, internal links and sitemaps are also checked. Rankings depend on several factors; stable rankings cannot be guaranteed.

Data volume and quality, custom extensions, interfaces and rollout determine the effort. After the audit, we can create a reliable plan.
Parallel preparation and a later delta import are part of planning. The required switchover time is determined for the specific system.
Before switchover
| Test area | Specific acceptance question |
|---|---|
| Data | Have test products, variants, customer data and agreed order histories been transferred correctly? |
| Purchasing | Do representative orders work, including payment, shipping and handover to downstream systems? |
| Findability | Are relevant old URLs mapped to appropriate new destinations and internal links updated? |
| Switchover | Are the data freeze, final import, responsibilities and fallback plan agreed? |
Project evidence
The published story describes the move to Shopware 6, a new design and the involvement of several departments. It illustrates why a migration needs to combine technology, design and ongoing maintenance.
