apollon Receives Another BSFZ Certificate for AI Research Project
Second certificate under the German Research Allowance Act for AI agents in industrial software
Pforzheim, 16 April 2026. apollon GmbH + Co. KG has once again received a certificate under the German Research Allowance Act (Forschungszulagengesetz, FZulG). With this, the Certification Office for Research Allowance (BSFZ) confirms that a further project of the company meets the criteria for research and development. An initial apollon project had already been certified in 2023.

Prerequisite for the Research Allowance
The BSFZ certificate is a prerequisite for applying for the research allowance at the tax office. It is issued for projects that qualify as research and development within the meaning of the Research Allowance Act.
AI Agents in Industrial Software Systems
In the current project, apollon is investigating how AI agents can reliably collaborate within industrial software systems. The focus is on how multi-step processes for creating, revising and distributing product information can be controlled in a stable and traceable manner. According to the BSFZ, the project goes beyond solutions currently available on the market.
Building on the 2023 Certificate
Back in 2023, the BSFZ had already certified a first apollon project in the area of AI-supported processes. The current certificate builds on this and shows how the company is advancing its research work from individual AI services towards more complex, coordinated systems.
“The renewed certificate shows that we are consistently advancing our research work. We invest in topics for which there are no reliable standard solutions today. The BSFZ’s confirmation reinforces this course.”
Norbert Weckerle, CEO of apollon GmbH + Co. KG
Research at the Pforzheim Location
With the second certificate since 2023, apollon is continuing its research work at its Pforzheim location. The insights gained from the certified projects feed into the further development of the OMN (Online Media Net) software platform.
